various wild clays, rocks, glass, broken ceramics, shells, ash, sand, salvaged glaze waste
Using materials to document a landscape and life lived in it. Collecting saving and repurposing materials over months spent in West Cornwall. Influenced by Femmage as coined by Melissa Meyer and Miriam Shapiro, in particular the wording ‘’leftovers yield nourishment in new forms’’ from their 1979 manifesto. Foraging for materials, repurposing others waste, and saving my own scraps are the foundations from which concoction, experimentation and play develop. Applying these collected materials to conventional or traditional techniques and recipes. Treating the process of making as scrapbooking; recording places explored, people met, journeys undertaken and life lived through the assemblage of this accumulated ceramic paraphernalia
