All materials from Cornwall. All tests fired to cone 6, oxidation.
Wandering, Collecting, Testing.
Since moving to Cornwall, I have slowly begun building a ceramic practice, focussing on material provenance. Starting from scratch, self-sourcing and processing materials, understanding what they do and how they can be used. Through these continuous tests I’ve developed my own style, influenced by these materials, the effects they can produce, and the tactility of the local landscape, as well as Japanese and Chinese techniques which prize the impurities of raw materials. I’m still discovering my identity as a maker and what I want to produce, regardless, material alchemy sits at the heart of my practice.
